Cold Dark Matter and the LHC ‡

چکیده
The recent determination of the dark matter density in the Universe by the WMAP satellite has brought new attention to the interplay of results from particle physics experiments at accelerators and from cosmology. In this paper we discuss the prospects for finding direct evidence for a candidate dark matter particle at the LHC and the measurements which would be crucial for testing its compatibility with cosmology data.

In this research we study the Mono-Z signature along with dark matter production at the LHC in a renormalizable dark matter model. We look at processes with L+L-+MET in the final state. We simulate signal and background events at central mass energy 14 TeV We then evaluate the LHC sensitivities for some points in the model parameter space for two integrated luminosities L=100 fb-1 and L=1 ab-1 ...
متن کاملConnecting LHC, ILC, and Quintessence
If the cold dark matter consists of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs), anticipated measurements of the WIMP properties at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the International Linear Collider (ILC) will provide an unprecedented experimental probe of cosmology at temperatures of order 1 GeV. It is worth emphasizing that the expected outcome of these tests may or may not be consistent ...
متن کاملSparticle Discovery Potentials in the CMSSM and GUT-less Supersymmetry-Breaking Scenarios
We consider the potentials of the LHC and a linear ee collider (LC) for discovering supersymmetric particles in variants of the MSSM with soft supersymmetry-breaking mass parameters constrained to be universal at the GUT scale (CMSSM) or at some lower scale Min (GUT-less models), as may occur in some scenarios with mirage unification. Whereas the LHC should be able to discover squarks and/or gl...
متن کاملWMAPing out Supersymmetric Dark Matter and Phenomenology
The recent WMAP data provide a rather restricted range of the Cold Dark Matter (CDM) density ΩCDM h 2 of unprecedented accuracy. We combine these new data along with data from BNL E821 experiment measuring (gμ − 2) , the b → s γ branching ratio and the light Higgs boson mass bound from LEP, to update our analysis of the allowed boundaries in the parameter space of the Constrained Minimal Supers...
متن کاملE–WIMPs 1
Extremely weakly interacting massive particles (E–WIMPs) are intriguing candidates for cold dark matter in the Universe. We review two well motivated E–WIMPs, an axino and a gravitino, and point out their cosmological and phenomenological similarities and differences, the latter of which may allow one to distinguishing them in LHC searches for supersymmetry.
